Artistic approach\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Born in Laval in 1986, Joachim Flornoy has lived and worked in Nantes since 2017. He holds a bachelor’s degree in cinema, obtained at ESEC in Paris and is head cinematographer for television since 2008.<\/p>\n

A street and travel photographer, Joachim Flornoy’s work focuses mainly on human presences that roam the space, often urban. His photos are in color, figurative, in natural light and taken on the spot.<\/p>\n

Today, he transforms his photographs by integrating them with old wooden supports and thus proposes unique and textured works. In order to give a new light to his shots, he also uses old windows that he illuminates.<\/p>\n

His main working tool is a Canon Digital SLR, but he also uses tools for the enhancement of his works: sander, brushes, glue, etc. The prints are made by a professional laboratory in Nantes.<\/p>\n

Through the photographs of these people that we meet, whether traveling at the end of the world or walking down the street, it is society and the world today that the artist seeks to question. Without judgment, with curiosity and benevolence, the attentive eye of the photographer gives the viewer a snapshot of life and colors, already disappeared and forever preserved.<\/p>\n

Once the shooting is done and the image developed, comes the thorny question of diffusion. Since photography is, in essence, a reproducible technique, the question of the artwork is essential and at the heart of Joachim Flornoy’s artistic approach: how to compare a painting, a unique piece made at the price of hundreds of hours of work , to a photograph taken from thousands of copies? His work, unlike pop art, is to link these two modes of expression by creating a work as unique singular from original media randomly picked flea markets. Over the years, Joachim Flornoy has presented several exhibitions in Paris, Noirmoutier-en-l’Ile, Laval or Nantes.<\/p>\n
