Sophie Adde is our artist of August

Come and discover the exhibition by Sophie Adde, from August 2nd to 31rd, 2018, in the main entrance and in the restaurant of the Chateau Clos de la Ribaudière. This month, Sophie Adde invites us into her world of pastel colors, between figurative and abstract.

Guided by her training as a textile designer, Sophie Adde has, for many years, integrated decorative, floral, ethnic and ornamental motifs into her paintings. Gradually, the background became more significant and took precedence over the form. Today, Sophie’s painting is more abstract even though prints and patterns sometimes add a vegetal touch to her works.

After a master’s degree in visual arts, Sophie Adde worked during 7 years in textile design studio. Thus, she was able to form ornaments, decorative motifs and flowers, which will remain for a long time a favorite subject for her creations. During this very inspiring period, Sophie was able to broaden her fields of expertise by trying advertising, illustrating youth or decorating restaurants, bars and shops.

Living and working in the Paris area, she decided to undertake a world tour to discover new lands and sources of inspiration: winter in China, horses in Iceland, volcanoes in Guatemala, beaches of Bali, streets of Rajasthan, Vietnam and city breaks in New York. Each of these visits giving rise to an exhibition, she realized many paintings enriched by her memories of travel. Today, they are found in books, on clothes, linens, wallpapers, postcards or notebooks…

She exhibits permanently in galleries or shops in Paris, Toulon or Granville and was able to present her work in Tokyo and New York a few years ago.
